Asset owner demand for system-level investing grows

Last month, the Thinking Ahead Institute (TAI) published its 2024 Global Asset Owner Peer Study on best practices. Three of the top takeaways from the report:

  • Geopolitical confrontation, climate change, social polarization are the top concerns of asset owners
  • A record 88% of respondents now expect systemic risks will grow in incidence and size
  • The main challenge for global investment organizations is managing complexity

On Sunday, Make Justice Normal, cofounded by TIIP Managing Director, Monique Aiken, kicked off NY Climate Week with their inaugural “streetfair for good” Street Works Earth, in Jackson Heights Queens. Two weeks ago, William Burckart and Jon Lukomnik began their 4th semester of Sustainable Finance II: System-level investing at Columbia University’s Sustainable Investing Research Institute (SIRI), part of SIPA.

  • The theme for PRI in Person’s 16th Annual conference is “Progressing global action on responsible investment
  • Bill’s remarks will be heavily informed by three of TIIP’s publications, namely:
  1. “System-level Investing: Case Studies of Investors Leading the Way,” which highlights first-mover investment teams that have embraced the practices for system-level investing. More here;
  2. “(Re)Calibrating Feedback Loops” guides institutional investors assessing the influence of system-level investing. More here; and
