UNEP’s The Financial System We Need

unepIn October 2015, the United Nations Environmental Program’s Financial Initiative published The Financial System We Need: Aligning the Financial System with Sustainable Development. Believing that “economies, societies and environment are inextricably linked” this study undertakes a comprehensive overview of the current financial system and its role in the creation of a sustainable economy and global economic development. In doing so it examines three key questions: 1) Under what circumstances should measures be taken to ensure that the financial system takes fuller account of sustainable development? 2) What measures have been and might be more widely deployed to better align the financial system with sustainable development? 3) How can such measures best be deployed?
