In September 2015, US SIF Foundation published Unlocking ESG Integration, a report on the policies and practices of 16 primarily US-based money managers with policies and practices related to the integration of environmental, social and governance criteria in investment practices.
US SIF is an association of investors that seeks to advance sustainable, responsible and impact investment across all asset classes. This report examines the ESG integration techniques, the level of disclosure of ESG practices, and the breadth of ESG integration for these 16 institutional investors. Among its recommendations are that the application and disclosure of ESG criteria should be specific and that managers should “articulate whether their ESG integration practice is systematic and consistent across all affected assets or applied only ad hoc or upon request.”
